Intermittent Sterling system and service issues continue due to cloud provider outage

As of 1:50 p.m. ET, Sterling continues to experience intermittent system and service issues due to a widespread cloud provider outage that started at approximately 10:38 a.m. ET on December 7, 2021. At this time, some U.S. and Canadian clients and candidates are experiencing intermittent login issues and error messages.

We are in communication with our cloud provider, and they are actively working to resolve this outage with urgency and priority. We will continue to monitor the situation, and will share updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience.

Chain of Custody/Control Forms (CCF) Extension for Federal Drug Testing through August 31, 2023

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has granted an extension for use of the 2017 Federal Custody and Control Form (CCF) for urine specimens through August 31, 2023. With this extension, either the 2020 Federal CCF (new) or the expired 2017 Federal CCF (old) may be used for specimen collections as of November 23, 2021, without a memorandum for the record (MFR) from the collector.

Upcoming Thanksgiving holiday will delay criminal, verification and drug and health testing services

In observance of Thanksgiving, most U.S. courthouses, schools in session, businesses and government businesses will be closed on Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26, 2021. As a result, criminal searches and verifications with external dependencies are expected to be delayed by 24 to 48 hours. Additionally, Patient Service Centers (PSC) for Quest/LabCorp will be closed in observance of the holiday and will reopen on Friday, November 26, 2021. eScreen/Alere managed collection site availability will vary. Upcoming Veteran’s Day holiday will delay criminal, verification and drug and health testing services

In observance of Veteran’s Day on Thursday, November 11, 2021, some U.S. courthouses, schools in session, businesses and government businesses will close. As a result, criminal searches, drug and health testing and verifications with external dependencies are expected to be delayed by 24 to 48 hours. We also recommend that candidates and employees call their chosen collection site to verify hours of operation as some providers have modified hours. For reference, here‘s a list of 2021 holidays.

Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender public website is now available

From Tuesday, October 26, 2021 to Thursday morning, October 28, 2021, the Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender public website was unavailable due to a data source outage with the Puerto Rico State Sex Offender Registry. The Registry has been restored as of Thursday morning, October 28, 2021 and all impacted searches are expected to be processed by start of business day on Monday, November 1, 2021.
