At Sterling, we believe everyone has the right to feel safe. We continuously monitor for cyber threats and other vulnerabilities to ensure we provide the foundation of safety and trust you need to hire with confidence.

As part of our security monitoring program, we have become aware of the potential for email-based phishing attacks using email addresses that are similar to Sterling’s.

Rest assured, Sterling has taken all possible actions to block or reclaim these email addresses, but we need your help to stay ahead of potential threats.

How to recognize phishing

Please consider the following actions to ensure that your account and your email communications with Sterling remain secure:

  1. If you receive an email from Sterling: please ensure that it is coming from Sterling’s authorized email domain such as sterlingcheck.com, sterlingts.com, talentwise.com, sterlingcheck.app and sterlingdirect.com. If there’s any variation such as Sterlingdirect[.]co, Sterlingdirect[.]cm, Sterling-direct[.]com, Sterlingdirect[.]net, please be aware that these do not belong to us.
  1. Just recently Sterling was made aware of: several email domains that could be used in phishing campaigns, specifically fcasupportsterlingcheck[.]com, fcsupportsterlingcheck[.]com, sterlingchck[.]com and shoppersupportsterlingcheck[.]com
  1. If an email is requesting sensitive information: please do not click on links in the email. Sterling will never send you an email requesting that you change your password (unless you click “forgot password” link)  or verify your account. Instead, visit our websites directly using known bookmarks or links, such as https://www.sterlingcheck.com/login/. Most importantly, before entering your username and password, verify that the site is correct and matches your expectations.

How to report phishing

If you question the validity of a message that appears to be from us, please contact your dedicated Sterling Client Success representative or Client Support.

While we can’t prevent all activities that may occur using fraudulent addresses, we can minimize risk, together. Thank you for your continued partnership.
