As of Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the E-Verify system is currently operational, but intermittent “system unavailable” is still being reported due to the government shutdown. New cases appear to be processing slowly, and our backlog of cases that require resubmission also continue to process. We anticipate that our backlog of case submissions will finish processing by end of day Thursday, October 16, 2025.
We appreciate your patience as we work through this process. We will continue to monitor and communicate impact updates as they become available.
Q: Is there any guidance from DHS/E-Verify on how to proceed now that E-Verify is back online?
A: E-Verify has provided updated information on the following website: https://www.e-verify.gov/about-e-verify/whats-new/e-verify-resumes-operations.
Q: What should I do if one of our E-Verify cases appears to be stuck, or hasn’t submitted for processing yet?
A: If your Form I-9 account is NOT set up for auto-submission of new cases, please take action with the Submit E-Verify button for those cases that are ready for E-Verify case submission. For Form I-9 accounts setup with auto-submission of
E-Verify cases, we ask for your patience while case backlogs are being processed. If an auto-submitted case has not been processed by Friday, October 17, 2025, please reach out to our Technical Support team for assistance.
Q: What should I do if I get a message that an overdue reason is necessary to submit my case that was delayed due to the E-Verify Shutdown?
A: Following the E-Verify guidance (see above), please use the “Other” category selection, and enter the text E-Verify not Available.
