The U.S. Department of Transportation approved a new chain-of-custody/control form (CCF) for federal lab-based drug testing. This CCF is mandated for use beginning Monday, August 30, 2021.

Considerations for your federally mandated testing programs

Sterling would like you to be aware of the considerations below for your federally mandated testing programs:

  • If you are using paper chain-of-custody forms, please order new forms through Sterling very soon. Once the new forms have been received, the older forms should be immediately destroyed to avoid accidental use. Please note that accidental use after August 30, 2021 may result in reporting delays due to additional validation steps necessary between the lab and the collector.
  • In lieu of paper chain of custody forms, Sterling encourages you to use electronic registration (eCCF) for drug testing. In addition to eliminating paper, doing so will significantly reduce delays oftentimes associated with paper forms, thereby improving turnaround.

Thank you for your continued trust in Sterling.
