Maryland criminal court search delays

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, county and state-level criminal records for the state of Maryland became unavailable due to intermittent access issues with the online source.  In the meantime, we have secured a provider as an alternative fulfillment method, but please expect turnaround time delays of four to six business days.

Update: Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender workaround in California and Delaware

As previously communicated on Thursday, May 2, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) became unavailable due to a data source outage that started on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. As of Friday, May 3, 2024, the California and Delaware Sex Offender Registries remain unavailable as part of the Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) search. As a result, Sterling is unable to conduct and report sex offender searches in California or Delaware at this time. 

In order to allow remaining searches to run without delay, the following disclosure will appear on consumer reports until California and Delaware Sex Offender Registries are accessible:

The California and Delaware Sex Offender Registries are currently unavailable as part of the Department of Justice Sex Offender Public Website search. As a result, sex offender registry searches were not conducted in California or Delaware for this order.

Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender outage and delays

Starting on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, the Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender Public Website became unavailable due to a data source outage. The DOJ is working to determine a date of restoration. In the meantime, turnaround time delays are expected. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience. 

Sterling I-9 connection issue in the Client Hub resolved

After Sterling received reports of the “Manage I-9” button not working properly in the Client Hub Order Manager, we actively worked to address the issue. As of 11:45 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the issue is now resolved and we’ll continue to monitor. Thank you for your patience.

Updated criminal and civil county court records now available in all Kansas Judicial Branch counties

Effective Wednesday, April 17, 2024, all Kansas Judicial Branch counties have completed updating their court case information, and we are processing criminal and civil records in the Kansas counties. As of Monday, April 22, 2024, criminal and civil search backlogs are cleared, and turnaround times have returned to normal.

As a reminder, updated criminal and civil record data from the Kansas Judicial Branch has been unavailable due to a technical issue with their information system that occurred October 2023. All Kansas jurisdictions, with the exception of Johnson County, were impacted by this issue.

Update: Access to Fulton County, Georgia court records restored, civil search backlog not yet cleared

As of Monday, April 8, 2024, online access to Fulton, Georgia criminal records has been restored by the court. Additionally, we have secured an alternate method of fulfillment for civil searches in this jurisdiction. The backlog of Fulton County criminal searches is cleared and turnaround times are returned to normal as previously reported, however, the backlog of civil searches is expected to be cleared by end of business, Friday, April 19, 2024 through our alternate method of fulfillment.
