Possible criminal, verification, and drug & health delays due to winter storm

Starting Tuesday, February 18, 2025, a winter storm is impacting portions of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, and Tennessee, creating dangerous travel conditions and extended power outages that may result in possible criminal, civil, verification and drug & health screening service delays.

Criminal and civil searches as well as verifications with external dependencies may be delayed. U.S. identity support sites in the impacted area may also be closed, and users may experience higher than normal wait times at nearby locations outside of the impact area. Additionally, drug and health testing may be impacted in the area due to specimen transit delays. It is recommended that your candidates contact testing sites in the impacted area to confirm hours of operation and available services before visiting. Candidates should also be instructed to postpone any T-SPOT testing until Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

We are closely monitoring the situations and will provide updates as they become available.

E-Verify service issues now resolved

From 11:15 a.m. to 12:06 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 13, 2025, E-Verify services were unavailable due to technical issues with the E-Verify system. As of 12:06 p.m. ET, E-Verify has fully restored their system and services, and you are now able to create and manage E-Verify cases.

As a reminder, E-Verify cases must be created no later than the third business day after the employee starts work for pay. Thank you for your patience.

Possible E-Verify service interruption due to technical issues

We are currently investigating reports of a potential service interruption with E-Verify. Currently, the E-Verify service is experiencing service interruptions due to technical issues. While E-Verify is interrupted, Sterling I-9 clients may see delays in new case creation and continuation of cases. In addition, clients might not be able to take action on E-Verify cases. We apologize for the inconvenience and will share updates as they become available.

Form I-9 Purge Feature Unavailable

As of Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the Purge functionality for Form I-9s – that help you manage removal of Form I-9s that have reached the USCIS retention period – is not working properly. You can still process Termination Date updates, but the purge or “delete” feature is not operational at this time. We will be removing the “Delete” button from the our Form I-9 “Term and Purge” page until the service can be restored.  We are actively working to resolve, and will share updates as they become available. We apologize for the inconvenience.
