The Department of Justice (DOJ) National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) continues to be intermittently available due to data source issues with multiple states. As a result, ongoing service turnaround time delays are impacting Sterling as well as other Consumer Reporting Agencies using the NSOPW. Sterling is engaged with NSOPW sources and we are actively working on finding alternate options to resolve the delays. We will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience.

Hurricane Debby made its final landfall in the Southeast US today, Thursday, August 8, 2024, impacting North and South Carolina. Its impact is expected to progress upward through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states. The area is now under a tornado watch and is currently experiencing dangerous travel conditions, widespread flooding, and power failure. As a result, criminal, civil and verification searches with external dependencies may experience delays. U.S. identity support sites in the impacted area may be closed – users may experience higher than normal wait times at nearby locations outside of the storm impact area. Drug and health testing may be delayed as clinic sites and laboratories in the impacted area may be closed until conditions are safe. Additionally, specimen transit times are expected to be impacted due to flight delays and cancellations. We recommend that candidates and employees call their chosen clinic site to verify hours of operation before visiting. We are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience.

Continuing National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW) source availability issues over the weekend have resulted in an increased backlog of NSOPW searches as of today, Monday, July 29, 2024.
On Friday, July 26, 2024, we communicated that the NSOPW had been experiencing intermittent availability due to data source issues with multiple states. As a result, NSOPW search fulfillment was delayed. We expected that online source availability would improve during non-business hours, and the current backlog would be cleared by start of business, Monday, July 29, 2024. However, due to ongoing issues with multiple state sources over the weekend, searches continue to be delayed. We are actively monitoring the NSOPW availability, and will provide ongoing updates as they become available.

As of Thursday, July 25, 2024, Los Angeles County, California criminal and civil court sources are restored and searches are being processed. We estimate the backlog of searches that do not require additional research will be cleared by end of business, Monday, July 29, 2024. Records requiring additional research in LA County are expected to experience extended delays due to backlog.
Previously, we communicated that criminal and civil record data for Los Angeles County, California was unavailable due to a technical issue with the county information system that started Friday, July 19, 2024. The issue, which affected all Consumer Reporting Agencies, impacted availability of all Los Angeles County court record sources, including access to the public access terminals. There were no alternate options for record access. We appreciate your patience and thank you for your continued partnership.
